Even though it remains the automotive capital of the world, Detroit and its surrounding metro area are making a name for themselves in advanced manufacturing, clean technology and services and healthcare. In addition to being a great place to build a career, you can experience a world-class sports city with all four pro teams located downtown, one of the best art museums on Earth, an award-winning riverwalk and a food scene filled with James Beard-recognized restaurants and chefs.

  • With the exterior finished, Hudson’s Detroit is set to open later this year. The 685-foot skyscraper will be the second-tallest building in Michigan and the new headquarters of General Motors.
  • The Detroit River is already home to an award-winning riverwalk, and with the soon-to-be completed Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Centennial Park, the riverfront will feature even more green space. The park will include play areas, basketball courts, event space, and more.
  • The Joe Louis Greenway, a 27.5-mile recreational pathway currently under construction, will serve as a pedestrian-friendly connection through neighborhoods and parks to help create a more unified Detroit
  • The Gordie Howe International Bridge, a 1.5-mile-long bridge connecting Detroit to Windsor, Ontario, is expected to be completed in September. Not only will it add a new route for vehicles to travel back and forth between the United States and Canada, but it’ll also include a path for pedestrians and cyclists.
