Take a Cherry Blossom Tour

The cherry orchards will soon be blossoming. If you’ve never seen several million cherry trees all flowering at once, you need to get up here and take a look! Flowers start to appear in May and they tend to peak around the middle of the month. See them on a hike, by bike and even on a wine tour!

Visit the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore

It’s one of Michigan’s five National Parks and its beauty is incredible no matter what the season is. Spring brings life and a new meaning to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Bright green leaves unfold on the trees, wildflowers dot the trails, and the sweeping vistas of Lake Michigan beckon you to stare for hours.

Go on A Wine Tour

Do you know that May is Michigan Wine Month? In Traverse City, that means we celebrate all month during Traverse City Uncorked.

Visit a Lighthouse

Take a step back in time and discover the history of maritime culture in the Grand Traverse Region by visiting one or more of the five lighthouses in the area. These Spring attractions in Traverse City are perfect for individuals, couples, and the whole family. Plan a little extra time to explore the grounds, take in the view of the Bay and in some cases climb to the top of the tower.

This region has likely been put on the map for biking because of the well-known Ice Man Cometh Challenge. While this is certainly an impressive race, it is not the only opportunity or event for biking enthusiasts. Cyclists will find themselves in awe of the endless country roads while mountain bikers will face new challenges on the VASA Trail and leisure riders can enjoy a cruise on the TART trail.

Watch a Sunset

The days get a little longer and there’s more time to plan a sunset outing! Pack a picnic (we encourage local snacks and beverages), grab a blanket and a few extra layers and head out to one of our beaches or open spaces to see nature’s display.
